Effective Swath Using Variable Rate

How the base swath width affects streaking in variable rate dry applications.

About This Resource

Shows how streaking can occur in variable rate applications when the base swath width is not right, using urea on an AT-802 with the 10 vane spreader (PN 23502), based on Dr. Dennis Gardisser's research. Example swath widths run from 84 ft at 80 lbs/acre to 69 ft at 200 lbs/acre. The guide recommends keeping variable rate applications close to the base swath width and picking an optimum base swath for the central rate. Larger spreaders such as the 23537 can handle a wider range of rate changes. Available in US and metric versions.
